Can I Use the Other Zones if One Is Dead?
The answer
Usually, yes. First move a pan that heats elsewhere onto the dead zone, to rule the pan out. If that zone still does nothing, the glass is whole, nothing smells burnt and the breaker holds, cook on the others and book Redmond Wolf Repair, (425) 905-2822, for the dead one.

Before you write the zone off
A zone can go quiet without being faulty. On Wolf’s current models, a zone left with no pan it can heat flashes for 30 seconds and then switches itself off, and every zone turns off on its own after 2 hours on high, 6 on medium or 8 on simmer. Restart it with a magnetic pan that fills the ring first.
When the rest has to stop too
Wolf’s guide rules out running the cooktop at all with broken or badly pitted glass, so a crack takes every zone out of use, not only the one it crosses. A burnt smell or a breaker that keeps tripping calls for the same response: power off at the panel, then wait for the visit.
